Semi-Integrated Solutions

Semi-integrated point of sale solutions delivers the benefits of an integrated solution, without the significant costs and work effort typically associated with fully integrated solutions.

“Si” terminals can integrate with an electronic cash register system (ECR), laptop or PC, easily and with minimal coding.

Key features:

  • Quick to market with minimal costs, coding and certification efforts
  • EMV contactless processing for Visa payWave, MasterCard, PayPass and Interac Flash
  • HomeCurrencyPay dynamic currency conversion (currently only available on Ingenico terminals)
  • Advanced tipping functionality

How it works:

The semi-integrated interface is an independent application loaded on the POS terminal. The interface enables the communication between the application and a merchant’s store POS. With simple application coding, the store POS can send transaction requests through this interface to initiate transaction processing. The respective transaction response message will be sent by the application back to the store POS.

 Integrated environment:

Within a traditional integrated retail environment, a physical connection is maintained between the store POS and the PINpad. In a traditional authorization path, the card data passes through the store POS and the merchant’s back-office system on its way to the host(s) or gateway.

Within a fully integrated retail environment, a physical connection is maintained between the store POS and the PINpad. In the diagram above, you can see that in a traditional authorization path, the card data passes through the store POS and the merchant’s back-office systems on its way to the Host.

Semi-integrated Environment:

Within a semi-integrated retail environment, the communications are limited to non-sensitive commands between the POS terminal and the store POS. Card data never enters the store POS; instead, it is encrypted and routed directly from the terminal to the intended processing host/s or gateway, circumventing the POS and back-office systems.

Within a semi-integrated environment, the communications are limited to non-sensitive commands between the terminal and the store POS system. Card data never enters the store POS; instead, it is encrypted and routed directly from the POS terminal to the Host, completely circumventing the store POS and back-office systems in the process. This reduces the scope for Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DDS) compliance.

Tablet POS-In-A-Box

Tablet POS-In-A-Box is a complete, all-in-one POS solution. Leveraging the Cluster POS bundle, tablet POS-in-a-box integrates a full-function Windows tablet loaded with a robust, customizable POS application, with Global Payments’ semi-integrated ICT250si POS terminal, a Vasario cash drawer and Epson receipt printer.

Tablet POS-In-A-Box is marketed as a “stand-alone solution” and it is because it uses the iCT250si terminal to handle the card capture and all sensitive communication with the host.

iCMPsi:

iCMP turns a compatible tablet or smartphone into a secure mobile POS via Bluetooth.

With the lightweight pocket-sized iCMP, merchants no longer need to hand over their smartphone or tablet to a customer. Instead, the customer uses the Ingenico iCMP and follows the transaction process just as they would on a typical POS PINpad – whether paying by EMV, magnetic stripe or contactless. Customers then receive their receipts via email, in real-time.
